FMQ'd Handbag from Lazy Girl Designs

Here's my latest bag. It's from the "Margo" pattern by Lazy Girl Designs. I used some various fabrics including some from an unused pair of drapes, some blue faux suede, and a batik my daughter gave me...Hope you like it!

The front of the bag almost covered with a large quilted pocket. (I added my own FMQing design to the pocket; not part of the pattern.)

I also FMQ'd the back.

And here's a peek at the pockets inside. I sized them to fit my cell phone and other items I like to keep in their own handy little pockets.

I have made a couple of these bags but I love that you used heavier weight fabrics it looks like. And that beautiful quilting design just absolutely makes the bag!!! Wish I was that talented!

Thanks, Linda. Yes, all the fabrics except the lining are heavier weight. It was a bit of a struggle for my machine to get through all those layers in places, but worth it, I think. :p

Wow, what a great idea.

Wow! That is stunning, both the quilting and the bag. What kind of a machine do you have to do your FMQing? Is it a domestic? So impressed!

That feather is so dramatic! Very nice!!

Yes, it's a domestic. I made this entire bag on my Juki TL 98 Q. All it does is a straight stitch (not even zigzag) and it does it very well. I do all my quilting using the "push through" method. I control the speed with my foot and move the fabric sandwich with my hands. Simple, yet effective.

So fancy feathers CAN be made on a domestic. You give me hope that maybe someday I can do that too. You obviously have excellent control!
