Well, Ladies.......as a follow up to my topic,
....................."SOMETHING FOR HUBBY TO DO".................. the job is almost completed......maybe I shouldn't use the word job but as of now, not too sure how to describe it !!!! I mentioned that I was going to make wooden outdoor quilted blocks and then turned it over to my husband......Here are the results..I think that he did a marvelous job....what do you think? The quiting boards are all painted but they still have to have a coating sprayed on them for outside protection......and I do think that they need a frame..... better known as a binding. So, what do you think? He did a pretty good job, wouldn't you say? I'm keeping him........MaryJane THE BLUES' FAMILY THEIR COUSINS, THE EARTHY FAMIY |
Thanks, I thought so also.
I was going to use them on the garden shed but I think that one will go to my daughter......she has rustic looking shingles on her home and maybe one of these will look good there........if she wants one... we shall see.........otherwise, who knows where they will hang.... have a good day, MaryJane |
Looks great! quilt blocks, either made with fabric or wood they are all wonderful.
|
Those are great! Suggested to my DH that he do some and he wants to know what kind of wood your DH used.
|
These are awesome!!! DH did a great job on these :D:D:D
|
Do you mean to tell me that your hubby took perfectly good wood, cut it up, connected it back together and then covered it up???
hmmm ... LOL He won't buy it, either ... hubby says there is a difference <g> but I keep trying. THose are really grand ... maybe he won't be so retired when he starts selling those beauties, eh? I hope he knows how fortunate he is to have a wife who understands "hobbies" and is an encouragement to him. <wave> |
Very nice.
|
Those are wonderful. I tried to talk my DH into making me one, I wont repeat what he said.

OK, MaryJane. It looks like you've really started something here!! I also just showed them to my DH and his response was "Oh, that's interesting." What that means in Tom-speak is "Oh no!! Another project!!" I love them. How big are they? I have a perfect spot on our garage to hang one. Thank you for posting this--now I can't wait til spring. Please post again when you put them in your garden.

hmmm ... LOL Omak.....No cutting, no connecting and no covering.......unless you mean the covering with paint....just a lot of taping and painting and waiting for it to dry..... and then some more taping and painting.....and so on........... but it kept him busy....and I do think that they out pretty nice. and the rest was up to him. |
Your hubby did a great job! You might be able to hire him out to make these even bigger for sides of barns, top of doors at quilt shops, any outside buildings etc.
He has a talent! warm quilt hugs, sue in CA |
Those look beautiful. They could brighten up a shed or house . What kind of would did he use , and what kind of sealer to protect it? Do you think they would hold up in winters with the freezing temps?
|
I think that this is a great idea for a plaque next to your front door. Especially if you paint thier last name on it in white, centered.
I am thinking many quilter's would pay good money for such a plaque. Is hubby looking for some extra money? I like it, can you tell?? LOL! |
Nice job hubby!!! Way to go! those are great.
|
Very neat idea! He did a great job on them. I, also thought they were cut into shapes and put back together. You are very lucky!
|
they would make great wall plaques for my sewing room.... hint.
|
Wow, those are wonderful. What a great job. Yup....he's a keeper.
|
Mary Jane, When ya'll come down to Florida rather than waving to me you can toss one out and I'll catch it as you're driving by! Oh, congrats on all those years together!
|
Great quilt blocks. How about putting legs on them for patio tables?
|
Those wooden quilt blocks are terriffic!! What a great job your DH has done, making them. They will be so pretty outside, when you get them done & up. Please remember to share with us again, when the project is done.

Not sure what sealer he uses but will ask him if you are thinking of doing some...here's the latest for the GD. Her's is 12"x12" and is for her front door. I sent her pictures of different blocks and this is the one she chose. Second photo is another of a make-shift item that we all could use. I had a couple quilts that I wanted to hang and store temporarily and the hangers were too small..so here's is Charlie's solution. These are two of the hangers that the stores usually leave on a pair of shorts or pants when you buy them.....a piece of wood and some large spring paper clips........viola, a new super-large hanger.
