Found in a closet
1 Attachment(s)
A cousin brought me a quilt top she found in a paper bag in her closet. She remembers the bag was in a closet in her moms house when she moved houses about 30 years ago. It is made with a rough thick fabric, seams dont line up, and a few seams are sewn over a hemed seam. Its interesting! I cleaned, repaired some and hand quilted. I'll give it back to her.

It turned out great! The imperfections just give it personality.
How sweet is that? You did a great job and will mean a lot to her.

WOW!!! this quilt is fabulous & unusual. i've never seen this pattern in any of my books of vintage quilts. if it were mine, i'd send a pic & the story to barbara brackman & see if she has any info on this pattern. on her website she frequently shares pics & whatever info she can find on questions people write her about thier finds. and your repair work is wonderful!

Nice job finishing this special quilt. It looks like a modern design of today.
I like it. Quite charming and unusual.
That was so nice of you to finish this quilt. It just may become a handed down heirloom thru her family.
What a sweetie peach you are! The quilt is adorable, nice work. Thank you.
It finished out quite famously- looks absolutely terrific. And what a nice gift for your cousin after all this time - her Mom's work is finished.
very nice !!

I see you are from Louisiana. I'm so glad this quilt (and you?!) were not damaged in the horrific flooding your area has endured. Thanks for sharing.
It is cute! It's great that you could save it and make it a beautiful quilt for your sister.

Great job, now that it's out of the bag it should be put to a good use!
The fabric colors and pattern are so striking and pretty that I don't think that the unmatched seams matter much. What a joy for your cousin!
The quilting is perfect with the quilt.
I am so sorry to hear of your mother's loss and all the adjustments your family, including your mother, will need to make. |
It reminded me immediately of propellers and I wonder if WWI or WWII was inspiration for it. Just a thought.
Very pretty and your quilting is too.
Nice job! Happy heirloom.
