Lucky find. I would look at the blocks and pick a great color from the blocks for the binding. You have so many choices of colors.
|
Beautiful blocks. Glad you are making special memories with them.

I stopped cross stitch when I started to learn to quilt. This is a nice way to combine them. |
Yes framing them with sashing in a green would be wonderful and really bring the cross stitching out - she did a beautiful job with her cross stitching.

What a treasure she left for you to find. Mom's have a way doing great things even when they are not still with us. You will cherish this for many years. :-D

What a find!! that quilt will be very special for you

I agree that a soft green would highlight the lovely blocks. What a treasure you have.

What about instead of sashing, take a very soft green bias strip and meander thru adding a small tendril with machine stitching at each flower..... just an idea, may not work but would be unique....
|
What about setting them on point to accentuate the cross stitching and using a dark green to make the blocks "Pop"?
|
How wonderful! They are a treasure, and will be a reminder of your mother each time you use it. A sashing would set off all the individual blocks, and define the space. Not sashing would still be possible if those are 12" blocks, as many of the embroidered blocks are. You have a lot of wonderful colors to choose from as possible sashing/border colors. Be sure to show us what you decide, and have fun with the process.
