Found yesterday in thrift store
3 Attachment(s)
Paid all of $11. for it. The batting is the old batting with the seeds in it so its really lumpy. I bought it for some of the vintage fabric in it but now that I see it laid out I am not so sure I want to dismantle it. Some seams split and split fabric in the back. Sewn together with big stitches but to me that is part of its charm.
There are 2 big squares of fabric on it and while I was picking it up from the floor I realize they are patches that someone put on to cover where the block had fallen apart. The patches are all pilled so I may take them off to see what all is underneath. |
What a great quilt! I hope it's in good enough condition to save.

I see somebody has already claimed it. How cute.

Great find, love your baby!!!

I see your little cutie has already claimed it. Hope you can save it. Thanks for sharing.

Great buy, and cute quilt inspector :)

If I lay any fabric or quilt on the floor he is on it. Its funny. I was sorting fabric and he slept on a pile that included the top half of old jeans, some canvas and a piece of lace. He has a bed with his own quilt in my sewing room silly old dog.
I did pull part of the patch loose and it looks like there was a brown fabric that disintegrated along the outside edge of the log cabin. |
Beautiful old quilt. I see someone thinks its pretty nice also!

nice save

Looks like they are both keepers to me!

hope you can save it, seems like your Fur Baby has already said "Thank you Mommy, it's mine"
lovely...hope you can save it! Tell poochy that he's not the only one. I brought in a pile of old jeans yesterday, put them on the floor next to washer and Tinkerbelle was laying on them while I was switching loads.
If I let him keep everything he claimed by laying on it there would be no room to walk on the floor. Most times though he is sleeping in his bed. You know the big full size one that he lets me use a small part of at night. :-)
I have decided I just can't tear this this apart. It's been washed so it will get folded and put in my cupboard wit the others. |
old quilt
Good morning Dama,
In the mid seventies one of my friends grand mother who was in her mid eighties made me some quilts. She stuffed them with the cotton out of a matress. Yes, they stuffed them in place of using batting. It was my experience that they fell apart fairly easy. I ended up making teddy bears out of the ones she my for my two DD. Believe me, I broke many needles sewing through that cotton. I ended up using the larger quilts (regular size bed) for mattress pads. I wonder where they are now? TTYL |
Great find! I certainly not dismantle it. I would say lots of work and love went into that quilt.
very nice find!!!
Great find. I hope you can save it ... even though it seems to have a pup magnet inside!
I was going to say, maybe you can save the best parts and make a smaller quilt to display, framed or just folded on the back of a chair. I wonder how well it will wash- will it fall apart even more. Maybe you could use part of it for your quilt inspector. Our pets seem to think a big wind is going to blow everything away if they don't sit on them!
Well your pup sure likes your buy!! I think it's pretty neat!! Good find.
It looks like someone likes it just fine just the way it is. If nothing else, you can always cut it down to critter size and give him his special place to rest.
What a wonderful treasure. You are a very good quilt mama.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great save!
I wish I could run across great things like this. I can see a little cutie says they like the quilt. :)
Nice quilt -love your dog.
That looks like the old cotton that my G-Mother used in some of her very old quilts.
I think the puppy wants it forself, looks comfortble there.........
I see it has your quilt inspector's approval. Great find.
