Four patch posey
6 Attachment(s)
I took a class at my quilt guild yesterday and I am having so much fun with the position of the "stack and whack" squares. I didn't have a Christmas quilt so I chose Christmas fabric. When you put the 3 1/2" squares together to make the block, the outcome of the block depends on which corner you put in the center. Therefore you have four different choices when putting the four squares together to make the block. Here is the picture of the original fabric

Your blocks are very interesting. I really like the effect of the four patch posey. Please show us the finished Christmas quilt.
Very cool. I especially like the last one, and the one that looks like the "Merry Christmas" forms a ribbon. I've only done S&W once, but had a blast.
They are so fun to do. Yours is great.
How fun! Be sure to post pics of the finished top.
I did a stack and whack at a retreat a few years ago. I also chose Christmas fabric. Instead of a quilt I took the hexagons and made several pillows as gifts for friends. Fun.
That looks like a fun project...so glad you are enjoying the experience. It's going to be a wonderful quilt.
Nice going on those. When I first looked at the blocks, I thought it wouldn't be possible, but you made it work out beautifully.
I made one a few years ago, found it just mesmerizing to do. I couldn't wait to see how each one would turn out. Yours looks great!
Thank you so much for the nice comments. Still having fun.
It is fun working with the squares of a four-patch posey. I have made 2 of them already. Should post photo, shouldn't I. Will try to get around to that soon.
You are doing a good job and think of the enjoyment you will have through the years.
Beautiful fabric, it will be more beautiful when finished.
new design every time
That's really neat. What a fun quilt.
Your blocks are so cool. I want to do S&W but haven't yet. I bought a book a few years back but got a little intimidated. I need to get it out & try it. Thanks for the reminder. Your Christmas quilt is going to be gorgeous. Keep us posted.
Looks great! The 4 patch posey is on my bucket list. I signed up for a class but it was canceled. :(
That is so pretty. Would be beautiful for a Christmas quilt.
Your fabric is so pretty and your blocks are turning out fantastic.
Looks great!
How nice of you to post this interesting study in fabric arrangement. I am still a Newbie (2years) and I really appreciate when a member shares creative techniques.
I like that!.. Post a picture when you are done so we can see the finished product/
Our guild had a workshop on this last year and I also enjoyed it. It's so much fun to see how all the squares look. Did you save a piece of the original fabric to put on the back??
That is turning out to be very nice.
