Very Pretty! You've made a tasty cake out of crumbs.

I've just done some small crumb blocks, now I know how I want to finish them. Thanks for the inspiration!

one question: but at that size, do they qualify as crumbs or as scraps?

Love those scrappy quilts. You did a wonderful job. Thanks for sharing.

audsgirl 03-04-2011 09:48 PM

This is great! I like how it is random, but not chaotic. The red gives it structure and the crumbs give it freedom.

silly newbie question:
what's the difference between a 'crumb quilt' a 'crazy quilt'?

Keeps Them In Stitches 03-04-2011 11:47 PM

This one makes me thing of the comics from the Sunday paper. I like it.

Not silly at all but my pieces were really small, not much left over but those r some samples
I get rid of nothing, so at the end they do nice :-P
Crazy quilt i used biger than those all the front of the blouses(see my profil)
And both make me good crazy

First they were crumps:-o
Stage two called scraps ;-)
Then crazy squares:shock:
Then framed and called them blocks
Then a quilt ;-)
So every thing begins small and gets bigger;-) ;-)

laalaaquilter 03-05-2011 05:41 AM

Also, on the crazy quilt I was first shown as a youngster the quilter used different fabrics like silk and lace and velvet, all mixed, and at the seams was embroidered with all different line embroidery.

Greyhound Mom 03-05-2011 03:22 PM

great job

suern3 03-05-2011 03:26 PM

What a great way to use your "crumbs". Pretty and cozy looking.

HeatherS 03-05-2011 08:41 PM

I think crumb quilts are a great way to use those bits and pieces you thought you'd never find a place for (except a bit of raw edge fill in). Your red borders really make this a winner.

shopaholic97 03-06-2011 06:00 AM

Your quilt is wonderful

Marvel 03-06-2011 07:41 AM

I think you have done well. Looks like the red and the blue were perfect to showcase your idea.

Tippy 03-06-2011 07:47 AM

marmalade 05-20-2011 03:32 PM

I think you made some good choices here. You brought everything together to make a beauty of a quilt. It's fun to look at all the different squares.

TacoMama 05-20-2011 05:21 PM

Thank you for posting what a crumb quilt is. I had wondered and my friend, Ann, explained it to me and now I can see one or have seen one I guess I should say. It turned out very pretty.
