I've been playing with my embroidery machine and decided to get started on some Christmas gifts. These are free standing lace and I'm going to put one in all of my Christmas cards that I send out this year.

Those are lovely. I have only tried to pieces of lace in my embroidery unit. I really love the angel. Maybe I will have to try and do some more sometime. Do yours come out really stiff too? Maybe my washaway stabilizer didn't all wash away.

Beautiful! Glad to see that I'm not the only one supporting Embroidery Library

No you are not the only one supporting Embroidery Library. I have bought several designs from them and have been very happy with them all.

Thanks.
Mine are just the right stiffness. I read somewhere that if they are too stiff you can just rinse them more. If they are not stiff enough you can take a couple of small scraps of your stabilizer and soak them in a small dish and add your design and it will make it stiffer.

CissyQuilts 09-08-2008 03:40 PM

Very pretty! I didn't know you could make those with an embroidery machine.

Chele 09-08-2008 04:24 PM

They are wonderful! They look like antique lace.

Marcia 09-08-2008 04:32 PM

Really pretty-they would all be beautiful hanging on a Christmas tree

ccbear66 09-08-2008 04:48 PM

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks. I've found a lot of things that I didn't know an embroidery machine whould do. I'm really loving my new machine and have been making a lot of gifts. In fact my DH just said yesterday when are you going to make something for us to keep. :-)

beachlady 09-08-2008 05:09 PM

They are beautiful. Do you still have my address?

sewnsewer2 09-08-2008 06:04 PM

Excellent job!

I have that angel and made them last year. Did you get the 2D from embroidery library? Have you made Marie Osmonds angel? It's gorgeous.

I'm making some this year too. I posted 2 of them in my post boys pillowcases.

jbsstrawberry 09-08-2008 09:08 PM

Ohh those are AWESOME!!! How pretty! I just love the Angels, especially the 3-D one!!

Celeste 09-08-2008 09:14 PM

Yes the 3d angel did come from Embroidery library. Do you have a web addy for the Marie Osmond angel. I really liked the ones that you posted.

sewnsewer2 09-09-2008 03:32 PM

The Marie Osmond one is no longer available. I got it over a year ago.

The ones I posted is not the Marie Osmond one, it was a freebie somewhere, but I can't remember where. If I find it again, I'll let you know.

Here is a free FSL mitten and angel. I have stitched out this angel many times.

sharon b 09-09-2008 07:41 PM

What type of machine are you making them on? I have the Brother SE270 and never would have thought to try somethng like that on the machine. They are beautiful !

sewnsewer2 09-09-2008 07:58 PM

sharon b, I'm not sure who you are asking, but I have a bernina and the designs are for machine embroidery and are done on WSS (water soluable stabilizer).

sharon b 09-09-2008 08:06 PM

Excuse me for so many questions, but could you explain a little bit more? No fabric, just the stablizer in the frame ? Mine is a 4x4 frame , would it work on this machine or do you need a bigger frame? Thanks for your help.

gcathie 09-09-2008 11:17 PM

Wow are you lucky or what.... you got a lot of choices there....

reneebobby 09-10-2008 02:28 AM

WOw those are nice great job I would love to have those.

Quilt4u 09-10-2008 03:42 AM

Love them.

sewnsewer2 09-10-2008 06:28 AM

sharon b (and anyone else) FSL designs come in al sizes. Most will fit the 4 X 4 frame.

I usually use H2gone from walmart, it's $177 a yard. What you do is hoop just the WSS (make sure it is taught in the hoop) and send your design to your machine and stitch it out. Then after it is done, remove it from the hoop and trim the excess off and rince well in warm water and let it dry.

You can use badgemaster for a stiffer ornament.

Badgemaster is also a WSS and looks like a thick plastic wrap. The H2gone looks like teeny tiny holed fabric. You could also use a piece of tuelle on top of the WSS for more stabilization, but I don't normally.

PM me if you have any more questions as I don't want to hijack this post.

Sharon, I also have a Brother machine and mine only takes the 4x4 hoop. Most of these designs were from Embroidery Library and this is also my first time doing the fsl. You shouldn't have any trouble. You just stitch them out on water soliable stabalizer that you can get at Walmart. The design has to be one that has been ditigitized for FSL. Then you cut away the excess and rinse under running water then just let dry. You can PM me if you have any more questions or if I can be of further help.
