I made wedding invitations for a friend and laid the bottom half on the table to dry. Can you see what came to mind when you look at this altogether? I think this could be a pattern for a quilt. Now just to figure out the material. It's amazing where ideas come from.

very neat, can't wait to see the quilt

Print your own fabric of that pattern, as you would for labels ... and make that quilt!

Maybe not a full quilt, but a table topper? runner? wall hanging? for the Bride would be a nice keepsake. You could even print the invitation and include it.

I stamped these. Do you think if I stamped the pattern on white cloth and then put blocks together it would work? Or should I try to find some type of fabric like this?

lmc8 04-27-2011 02:50 PM

You could upload the stamped image to spoonflower.com and they will print the design on fabric for you.

My suggestion was thinking about how you print onto fabric thru your computer printer.

You could inquire about your stamps ... would they set in the fabric? Would they be washable? or just a lot of work and wouldn't last?

sylvia77 04-27-2011 04:21 PM

Looks like a log cabin, barn raising pattern. I love the idea of stamping the pattern on white cloth snd think it will work just fine!

That is just what a creative mind would see....I say go for it.

drgntatoo 04-28-2011 03:51 AM

My first thought was to be on the lookout for a border fabric like this...one with lots of repeats and see what you come up with. Now that you are inspired there will be no stopping you! Good luck and please post the progress...

nabobw 04-28-2011 05:22 AM

caspharm 04-28-2011 04:23 PM

Can you find a similar fabric to your pattern? The other option is http://www.spoonflower.com. You design the fabric and they will print it.

I have heard some good things about it. However, it is pricey.

There may be other sites like it.

Lockeb 04-28-2011 04:31 PM

BEAUTIFUL!

Same thought when I saw it. You could do pink roses and white/offwhite to get the same effect without having to print material for it.

cjmat 04-28-2011 06:28 PM

I know what you mean. I was actually looking at Don Cherry's gaudy suit the other night and started seeing quilt blocks!

Stamping with fabric inks would be awesome... you could play with tonal colors with it too :D:D:D

I must tell you what I did for a wedding quilt similar to what you're doing. I used beautiful preprinted labels, ironed fusible webbing to the back of each one, and top-stitched each label onto another piece of fabic, which were all the same size, and sewed them altogether!

It was beautiful! It was for my SIL. And then I quilted it on my longarm.

I have to admit that I got the idea out of a quilt book...I'd have to look through my books to see what the name of it was and who it was by...it's been about 4 yrs ago! It was a very enjoyable project!

Honey you just figured out that quilters have very fertile minds. It does suggest ides . Keep on quilting.
