Thanks so much for the instructions. I have done hooked rugs, and I crochet, so I can see exactly what you are talking about.
What a great idea! Got too many UFO's right now, but will certainly keep this in mind. I wrote down your instructions to keep in my "planned projects".

I am looking forward to your pictures of primative hooking. I think hooked rugs are so beautiful. Do you create scenes in your rugs?

No I do not create scenes ,just abstract patterns which I design myself usually based on nature but not always. My Mother likes to make scenes or pictures, flowers, boats anything really. I let the fabric colours speak to me i do not plan a rug first then look for fabrics if you know what i mean.

my grandmother used to make these rugs, I wish I knew how to do them.

Wow, I love your rug. Are you going to post a tutorial here for all of us to enjoy on how to make your cool rag rugs?

wow, that rug is just like the hooked rugs my grandmother taught me to make 40 years ago! Thanks for the memories...Your rug is beautiful...

Please, please, please post a tutorial. I tried making a crocheted rag rug last summer but it ended up looking like 1/2 of a bra. I think this method would give me the results I was hoping to acheive with the last one.
