Stopped at a garage sales on the way to work this morning. Found this great bow tie quilt top - all hand pieced. Then two tins full of buttons and a darning mushroom :). Nice way to start the day. Now do I finish the quilt by hand or machine? I hate to ruin it's charm.

Good find

A darning mushroon is used to darn socks. My Nan used to use it to finish the shoulders on coats, the points on fitted bodices and darn the elbows on jackets.
|
The darning mushroom is the wooden implement in the picture under the tins.
|
Very cute. I'd hand quilt it!

Nice find. Lucky you!

Wonderful quilt top. A couple of those fabrics are in a quilt my mom's aunt made her in 1941. They were feedsacks.

Awesomesauce!!! :)

wow thank you! I do think I will hand finish it. which means somewhere around 2020 it might be done :o
|
Hand Quilt it. It won't take that long.

My hands won't do handquilting, so I just enjoy my 2 vintage handpieced quilt tops as they are... Love them, and it's fun for me to see the stitches on the back of them...
