Gave a Thread Painting Workshop

5 Attachment(s)
My friends and I gathered at Creative Sisters in Kitchener last Friday and we did some Thread Painted Birds. After guiding them through some of the pitfalls with a simple Chickadee, they went on to more challenging species. Here's a sample. I can hardly wait to see the finished products at our next get together.

Wow, that is just amazing!!! (well, I think all your stuff is)
So it looks like you start with a printed image like a greeting card?

Great birds! Do you applique them after removing the stabilizer?

MaryKatherine 04-04-2016 07:05 AM

Yes. I find this is a really "cheap and dirty" way to do something a little different.

MK- always great to see what your creative mind is up to - fabulous, as usual. Gotta love these birds ;)

beautiful, simply amazing work, so real looking too.

red-warrior 04-04-2016 07:57 AM

Amazing! I would love to learn to do this!!!!!

joyce888 04-04-2016 08:02 AM

How cool! Thanks for the inside peak of the process. I had no idea they were only done on stabilizer and actually colored in before stitching.

Great job on the workshop, teacher. I want to learn how to do that someday.

Anniedeb 04-04-2016 06:20 PM

I am always amazed at what some people are capable of!! I'm not a "thinker"...I see something and I "do" it, but I can't visualize it to begin with. You always show awesome creations!

gramquilter2 04-06-2016 08:40 AM

Great job -love what you have done. Wished I lived in the area so I could join the group.

So beautiful! I've done some cacti and shrubs, but your birds are "over the top"! I'd love to be in your class!

I watched a demonstration at a craft show and would love to know how to go further with it.

They make it look so easy but I somehow think not.

I've always wanted to learn how to do this. It's such a neat look and allows you to be even more creative. They all look wonderful! It's cool to see the process too.
