Getting control of my long arm with a printed panel

I'm not very good with the free motion end of my machine yet. So when I found this panel in some stuff that was given to me by a quilting friend several years ago that I had stashed it away in my closet for when I got time to do something with it. I thought this would be perfect to practice on. So, I loaded it on my machine and started stitching. I wish now that I had used gold thread. But, too late now. I got lots of practice in tiny tight areas. What do you think??

Nicely done! Looks like you have great control of your machine. :)

Nice job and panel! I did the same one a few years back and used gold/black thread. My Mom hung it at her apartment as she had no room for a tree.

You did a great job!

I love doing panels. They're a great way to learn. My grandkids have a lot of Disney panels to interchange on their walls. Great job.

That is really nice. Great idea for free motion quilting also.

You do great work! And the more you quilt, the more comfortable you will be without the pantos.

joyful1 12-01-2014 04:39 PM

Very nice! I just tried FMQ myself, and you've done a much better job at following lines ... huge congrats!

Geri B 12-02-2014 06:05 AM

You can reload and do some over stitching with gold thread

joyce888 12-02-2014 06:09 AM

Great job! Thanks for sharing both sides and giving me an idea for practice.

josie bass 12-02-2014 08:30 AM

I think it turned out quite nicely. FMQ is very hard at first and then you get use to it and Go Go Go ! I do It on My new 8900 and I don't do anything but meander but it is fun. I think you are going a great job, stay right in their.

chichimamma 12-02-2014 12:01 PM

Looks great.

It is a very good way to learn control. You practice harder if you practice on something real. Congrats on the longarm. May you stitch in peace and love.
