One is for a little girl basket and one is for a little boy. My Daughter runs the Giving Tree here and every year I donate as much as I can. There is also a big quilt that will be raffled off.

Love the name The Giving Tree. There is a children's book called "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. It is the story of a little boy as he grows up and the tree that sees the events in the little boy's life. It is quite special.

These quilts are lovely. Thank you for being so special and giving to this cause.
|
Any little girl/boy would be happy to receive one of your quilts. Nice job!!

They are beautiful...sounds like a brilliant project.

Gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling to give to things like this and Linus or anywhere the quilts go to the less fortunate .

Those are fine quilts. I know they will make a difference for someone.
I donate to a local charity that gives quilts to kids in out of home placement, usually immediately. I had a foster parent track me down and say that she'd recently had a boy come in from a meth lab house. The social workers burned everything he owned, due to health hazard. The first night absolutely all he had was a loaned pair of PJs, new sheets and my quilt. She said that I could not imagine how important that quilt was. The quilts you donate show a child that someone knows and cares that he/she is alive. |

Just for a little background. My daughter started the giving tree when she was 12. She is now 34. The only year she did not do it was the year her son was born prematurely. Last year she provided gifts for almost 600 kids in need. Her and I do the shopping for at least half of it. When people take tags and fill them, they rarely come back with just one gift. So the kids each get 3 gifts or more. It is a county wide program so the whole country gets behind it and gives. She sets up over 30 trees and has 3 or 4 fund raisers. She does this with very little help. Her DH has supported her in this endeavor since they first met. That first year she had 2 families with 4 kids. So she and her brothers earned money and asked for donations from friends and family. She used to provide a full Christmas dinner, too, but with so many, that became impossible. Every penny that is donated is used strictly for gifts. She would rather not have people know it is her doing this, but it has gotten to big for her to remain completely anonymous. I honestly don't mean to brag, but I am very proud of her and all that she has done. Some years it has been down to the wire for having enough money, but God has always provided.

Very nice quilts. Service quilts are the very best--give a warm fuzzy feeling.

Honey ~~ This is a wonderful program your daughter has started and focused on. I can see why you are so proud of her. Thank you for sharing her story with us and thank you for being so supportive of her.
