I love this little quilt. It is so interesting and eye catching you can hardly look away.

After I quilted it, one can hardly tell that was a problem. I'm glad I didn't throw it away. ...

I'm glad you didn't throw it out and shared it here. I think it is fantastic. I'm thinking that the satin's different directions probably added to the finished block and may not have turned out quite as nice if you had all the shiny pieces matchy matchy.

I love the look of different shades with the Satin! It adds to the movement. The quilting is to die for! If you don't win first place, I want to see the one that does!

I will admit when I looked at first picture I didn’t like it (sorry). I’m glad I looked at the rest because they changed my thinking. The quilting really did wonders, I can hardly believe it’s the same block! I do hope you bring home first place and please let us know when you do!

Gorgeous quilting! What was your learning process?

Thank you! I learned by watching YouTube, a few classes and trial & error...

When I first started quilting, I sent out a couple of quilts to some very highly-recommended longarmers. The first one took 11 months and the second (a 31" x 31" wall hanging) still wasn't back after 17 months. I told the second one I wanted it back finished or not. She asked for one more week and finished it. I didn't even like the quilting that they put on it, and I redid some of it on my domestic machine.

I decided to learn how to do the quilting myself. I eventually bought a sitdown machine with a 16" harp. That helped alot. I've been at it for about ten years. I actually hate the quilting part, but I'm getting better every year.

Genius idea and oh, so well executed! You set the bar high for your fair competitors.
