One of my earliest memories is crawling under a frame like this while my mother and the neighbors quilted, her frames were just rested on chairs in the middle of the room. I think I might have been 3 yrs. old. I love this picture, thanks for sharing it with us.

My Daddy used to talk about one of his earliest memories of his mamma was when he would play under her quilt hanging from the ceiling, and he would poke his head up into her quilt, and she would plink (not hard) him on the head with her thimble. It was a game for both of them. (he was born in 1913 and passed away in 1966, but I still remember that) I have one of her quilts. Nice memories we have around our quilts.

My mother had one of these, I believe handed down from my Grandmother, hers didn't at that time hang from the ceiling but she lined up dining room chairs to hang them on and the chairs got closer together as the quilt got further along in the process. My wedding quilt was finished on this frame! I still have a part of it, but the top was pieced by my grandmother with thread from War time, so my mom said not so strong. Part of it is in shreds, and I believe in past repair but I am thinking of making pillows of the good parts. My oldest sister has it now!
