Yes, it is hand quilted. I spent every evening in my recliner with it in my lap throughout the winter. I may be a little nutty, but I like to have a project going while I watch TV. This was almost too much of a project. May need to go smaller this year. Glad I finished before the weather warmed up!!

And now the question is "Where do I put it?" My big boy kitty is getting a little up in years, and you never know when a hairball may be left behind. Hubby works and plays outdoors most of the day, and leaves a bit of a trail wherever he goes. REALLY, he's very careful...shoes off at the door, etc. But...
I think for now it will remain in my sewing room at the top of my quilt stack that is on the bed in there.

I little more country after the big Paducah Show. After seeing all of the perfect quilts in Paducah I always walk away thinking, "I just won't live long enough to be able to do that." It certainly is inspiring to see those works of art, but also a little, tiny bit intimidating, too.

Did you happen to see the Christmas All Around (I think that was the name of it) out by the mall. I thought that was one of the prettiest thinks I had ever seen. I'll try to put the picture up in a little bit. Still learning...this is a lot harder than quilting.

You should really consider entering this show next year. They are in need of entrants, especially in the large quilt.

Yes, it is done by hand. I have often tried free motion, and am not confident or good with it AT ALL. I need lots of practice!! After the piecing turned out as well as it did I didn't want to ruin a good thing with bad machine quilting. So, I stitched away each evening while watching TV. It took several months, but I'm really glad I did it that way. That whole quilt was a "learn as you go" project--clear to the scallops. It was really fun.

roselady 05-08-2011 09:25 PM

You deserved to win! Everything about it is wonderful!
