These are two of my three granddaughters, Lily and Bernadette, who with 5 of their brothers and cousins just spent two weeks at our Ranch. The girls wanted to learn to sew, so they each made a doll quilt for their first project. It wasn't as easy as they expected it to be, especially the hand sewing of the binding, but they both persevered and finished their quilt's before their parents arrived yesterday, they are quite proud of themselves

That is so sweet! I can not imagine being a grandparent and 8 kids staying at my house! LOL I have 5 children but that is awesome that they were all there with you. ;) I have trouble finding a sitter for mine.....so now I know where to send them right?! LOL

I think that would be fun to have them all together at one time like that. I really like the looks of serious concentration on the girls faces. And they are so proud of their accomplishment. Hoorah for them.

Awesome kids. They will always treasure that time with you. I was going to teach a granddaughter age almost 9 to do something simple like that when she was here. We did a small draw string bag instead and ran out of time for quilting. Younger sister pestered me to do something with sewing with her but again with 3 little ones around it was hard to get a meal on the table let alone teach a youngster to sew.

I see a case of beer in the background of one picture :). Was it Miller time at the end of that day?
