That is just darling. So colorful. Interesting sashings - they look like 1/2 inch strips sewn together. Wow! You did a great job!!!

Very nice! I'm intrigued by your sashings! But the time I've completed the blocks, I just want to slap thos sashings on and be done! Yours are very fancy!

Yes, I saw this quilt the other day and it still impresses me. While the ladies are marvelous in their own right, your sashing is divine, is it piping that you made, or something else? Clearly I can see each lovely line. Truly a divine work of art!

salisaquilter 06-24-2008 10:19 AM

THE FABRIC WAS FROM MY STASH OF BORDER PRINTS.
I MACHINE QUILTED ON THE LINES. I WANT IT TO BE FOR HER TO KEEP FOREVER. SO USED QUALITY FABRICS. ETC.
DID A LOT OF QUILTING ON IT. OUTLINES THE LADIES AND MEANDERED THE BORDERS EXCEPT THE SASHING.

Oh, your quilt is soooooo pretty, i've never seen one like that, so very nice with the southern ladies, very nice! :) Your sashings are beautiful too...how wide are the little strips in your sashings, are they 1/2" strips? or 1/4" strips? Or are they some kind of piping? They just stand out so nice :)

What a beautiful keepsake! She is going to love it.

tHE SASHING IS A BORDER PRINT... I JUST QUILTED IT ON THE LINES.
MADE IT FROM SOME STASH FABRIC. I HAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT BORDER PRINTS. I HAD A THING ONE TIME AND JUST COLLECTED A NUMBER OF BORDER PRINTS. THEY HAVE REALLY COME IN HANDY WHEN I HAVE WANTED TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL WITH MY LATTICE WORK.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

what a wonderful treasure for her I'm sure she loves it....you did a nice job on it to

Elizabeth A. 06-25-2008 08:11 AM

Oh wow Sally! I never would have guessed, or even known such a thing exists! What a great thing to know of! I will have to add some of that style fabric to my wish list. It really making things pop. My applique is so so, as in it gets done but doesn't look "great", I keep telling myself practice makes perfect, so I keep at it. I've gone from using invisible thread to hide my stitches to using rayons to really set it off, so I'm getting there. Thank you very much for sharing! When will your Granddaughter recieve her quilt?

mpspeedy 06-25-2008 11:34 AM
