Grandma's Preserves
1 Attachment(s)
Just needed to do a little project to take a break from the longarm. I (like everyone else) have jars of buttons. These are antiques and this is a wonderful way to display and enjoy them. This little quilt measures 12 x 12

Very cute! I have a nice bunch of mother of pearl and jet buttons I should do something with.
|
Very nice, I like the buttons.
|
Oh, I like that! Great quilted texture in the background is a nice contrast to the smooth jar and the buttons add another cool layer- nice art quilt.

That's terrific! I wish I'd seen that when my sis was offering a box of antique buttons!
|
What a creative person you are! Great way to showcase beautiful buttons!
|
Very clever! I have a jar of them too. Good wall decor for a sewing room!
|
Another quilt that inspires me! As a canner of preserves this is a keeper. Thanks so much for sharing this little and special quilt.

That is so cute and a great idea. I love old buttons. I suppose most of us have a button jar!
|
What a beautiful way to showcase buttons! I love it.

I have my mother's button tin, I remember playing in it when I was a child. I have also purchased boxes and tins of buttons at yard sales and auctions. I own lots of button tins and jars. Sometimes, I still just sit and sort my buttons.
|
Great idea to showcase some of our treasured buttons, I have several jars but most of mine are dark buttons.
|
What a cute idea! Your quilting is fabulous

Cute quilt and what a great creative way to display your antique buttons. I have a jar of my grandmother's buttons and now I have an idea of how to use them. My Grandma cut buttons and saved everything useful from a garment.
|
Very clever. Love it!

I love collecting buttons as well, your idea of displaying them is great, I love to collect old mason jars, and thats what I put my buttons in
|
Very cute idea.

How fun! You probably have started a trend with some of the quilters here. LOL!
I also have collected buttons most of my life. It is very fun to go through them and daydream about what they could have been on. Friends and family have gifted me their collections, so I have, I think, six peoples worth of lifetime collections. There used to be button market shows in California. I never went to one, but, that would have been fun. Don't you think? |
Very cute and one-of-a-kind! Nice work.
|
Lovely!Your quilting on this little treasure is perfect.
|
That is just adorable! :o

Really cute idea. Love the fabrics you used ... they look great with the buttons.

What a great idea!

I went to a museum in St. Augustine and saw a huge collection of buttons years ago. It was wonderful! Did a little research and found the Florida State Button Society (it's a real thing!) will be having their 2020 show in Daytona Beach, Fl....I already have it on my calendar...can't wait!

I have a couple of big boxes of buttons. I love to look at them and sort them, but there is not time for such a pleasant
past time today. I think that your small quilt will be the perfect project. My grandmother made several velvet covered boxes that she sewed buttons on for me. They are lovely; I wanted to make some, but it was too hard to sew the buttons through the heavyweight cardboard boxes and velvet. |
