Grandmother's flower garden

I decided that I would hand quilt it. I took it to a local sewing shop and rented a long arm machine to baste it together. I hand quilted around each of the flowers and the individual centers. I appliqued the edges to a plain border. I echo quilted 5 rows around the outer flowers for the border.

I decided that the corners should be rounded, this was my first time doing this and I made bias binding to go around the corners.

I had a mishap with a glass of red wine that spilled into the bag where the quilt was stored underneath my end table. The wine came out of the front of the quilt but there are still faint wine stains on the back. I think it will eventually come out, if it doesn't I will always remember the day the wine spilled.

I started this in March 2013 and finished in February 2015. If you are working on a large project, keep working bit by bit and one day it will be done.

Wow - you did a great job! I can appreciate all your hard work. I also am piecing a Grandmother's flower garden by hand and started mine in 2009 all with 1930's reproduction fabrics. The path is muslin. The inner flower is one color and the outer color another, the bud is yellow. I do not know how big it will be either - it is quite an undertaking but am enjoying it and good therapy - nice to see it all coming together slowly but surely.

This is the prettiest GFG I've seen. I think it's because, for me, the white flowers in between let your eyes rest. How big are your hexie pieces. If I were EVER to do one, I'd make one similar to yours. Beautiful:)

I believe Club Soda will remove wine stains from carpet, quilts, etc. Hope it all comes out.
