I would need a photo of the damaged area to see what could be done.

The quilt is beautiful and well worth whatever it takes to repair it. Is it a family piece?

That is lovely. Is it the binding that needs repair?

I just finished a quilt top my aunt made. It was a six pointed star. The edges were a series of squared off edges. I actually tried to make a binding for it. I made a bias binding.

I read up on EVERYthing I could find on uneven edging. All I found was for scalloped edging. I followed the instructions for sewing it on the back and it worked just fine.

Once I went to hand sew it on the back, there was no way I could get it sewed on without tucking the binding.

I looked at my aunt's Grandmother's Garden and found she didn't do binding. She just turn the edging of binding and top under (probably 1/4" or more. Then she must have slip stitched it closed. She did very fine handwork and I can't see the stitches. I'll take a picture tomorrow of both my binding and her method.

Your quilt is very nice. I'm not sure what you are wanting to do, but I'm sure you'll do fine.

I have a vintage Grandmother's Flower Garden that has binding that is real narrow and goes along each hexagon that is on the outside edge. That must have been quite a job. Also, I have seen ones where the outside blocks were cut to make it straight.
