One of the two guilds I belong to also makes items for our local police and sheriff departments to keep in the trunks of their cars to give to children in stressful situations. We call them Cuddle Buddy Bags and consist of a small tote bag with a stuffed animal and a small quilt (animal-sized) inside. The bags aren't large ones but could hold a small book, coloring book and crayons, etc. We donate them to reps from the departments at our Christmas party and sometimes at one other time each year. If I remember correctly, we gave around 200 this past Christmas. The officers always give us some stories of how welcomed these np totes are - makes tears in our eyes.

My other guild will start making larger tote bags for the children at the local women's shelter so they have something to carry they personal items in when they leave for their new home. Otherwise they have to use a plastic bag.

Your small quilts are adorable and have given me some ideas to use some machine embroidery stitch outs I have laying around plus others I've been wanting to do but have no small children in our family.

Thanks,
Sandy in Mooresville, NC - it was 8 degrees outside this morning - brrrr!!!

Your area officers are so good to take the little project totes. Not all officers are open to the idea--no room for them in their trunks, we tried that once a long time ago. So glad to hear others are wanting them, as they don't take up that much space, they do make a difference for a child.
