I bought these at a garage sale a few years ago - still don't know what to do with them - they are the ends of the bolts of FEED SACKS from when they sewed up feedsacks for animal feed at some factory? They are pristine - very nice smooth fabric - pinked edges. The one has a striped design and it is VERY straight. Just put them in a bag and weighed them - almost 10 pounds!

The big roll on the left looks very much like some fabric my mom used back when I was in school to make shoe bags for keeping your shoes separate from your clothes in your suitcase.

Those are pretty! I have never sewn with feed sacks, but they are very popular! google "feed sack quilts" to give you an idea!

raptureready 07-09-2010 03:46 PM

Eleanor Burns Eggmoney pattern book has a LOT of quilts for that era fabric.
