I've had those dreaded uncelebrated birthdays, too. When I complained to my niece about she said that if I had planned my own birthday celebration and invited people to go out to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and gone for a manicure or out to a movie, I would have had a wonderful day. I tend to give people the impression that I'm always busy working, but the truth is..... I'm really not. I choose to be a home body.

But happy birthday and glad you got yourself some shiny new fabric. That would make me feel better any day of the year :mrgreen:

Though mom did buy me a native american doll and then they took me and hubby out to dinner.

Hanging on to the hope that someone will acknowledge our birthday, making it special for us, gives others such power over our emotions! Take the power back. Instead of shopping for fabric as a "have to do something" action, why not plan ahead? Save a dollar a day in a cookie jar and go shopping on your birthday! You might be surprised at the reacton you get from others when they realize you're not depending on them for a good day.

That said, I'm really glad you salvaged your birthday! Here's hoping for a better one next year -- one that you've planned for yourself!

I used to feel sorry for myself on my birthday. Then I just came out and said its my birthday soon and theres a party...dinner. They all said I thought you didn't want to celebrate, you never said anything. If you don't tell them they can't read your mind...tell them how u feel. Both my kids forgot my birthday last year (which they never do) and I have not let them forget it. Then Dad's in Dec. Wow they had a bad year. My Christmas was like that. Said I was not going to stay home next year without my family. So sorry it was crummy, but the sun shines another day. We'll pray for you for brighter days. Have a great day at your party. Maybe go buy some more fabric. PA is a great place to do it. My daughter is in Carlisle so I love to go there. Again, smile-- there is another day. Go make lemonade.

My birthday is in the beginning of Jan., and it has always seemed like a big bother to the hubby and kids. So, I started (many years ago) buying what I really wanted for me. Then, I had a breast cancer episode, and started getting my mammogram every Jan. for my birthday. What better gift than a negative reading.

Well, seems like my presents to me are getting bigger and better. This year, I purchased 4 30" base cabinets and hired a carpenter to put a top on them for my new cutting table. I have lots of storage underneath, and 80" of top to play on! Can't imagine next year.

So, things can get better for all of us born in Jan. We just have to make it better for us.

Well I got absolutly nothing for Christmas too! But atleast there wasnt fighting and hours of making me feel bad! To be honest with you, he handed me my ring back last night, and told me to go find someone else, or something else that makes me happy...and that all I do is hurt him, and take stabs at him...and blah blah blah....I spent the day using my anger to create beautiful peices of art....
I have a very small fabric stash...I only have maybe 7 yards in total of different varieties....and I would love to buy myself a nice gift, unfortunatly all my money goes to groceries and the kids....

LOL mimi...25 :) Thats great..I get younger and younger each year!! I tried to teach my kids how to make every day special..but they are well brats! I love them anyways, but they didn't even make me a card.

Treat yourself good! You are worth it! Even when I felt as if the whole world hated me, I always knew that the Lord loved me more than I could ever know. I hope you feel His love giving you a big hug for your birthday!!!
