How big is the carpet? You could always put on a respirator and iron the rest to match = )

If it isn't too late, try a little ice in a cloth; sometimes it will help to bring back to nap of the carpet.

Sorry it happened. It is a unique touch to the decoration of your sewing room. If it is in the right place and you want to, you could continue to put iron prints from the ironing board to the long arm as if they are foot prints.

Or you can do this automatically by just moving your ironing board periodically...that way, you're sure to trip over it again...and again...
