Hand pieced quilts
A friend recently gave me a stack of quilt tops that had been given to her. They were all hand pieced. Some had stains on them. I was thinking about cutting them down to make lap quilts for a local nursing home. Any better suggestions?

Great idea as nursing homes or shelters always need extra quilts to keep everyone warm. Kudos to you for what you are going to do.

Jordan is right. Nursing homes and shelters can always use quilts, especially at this time of year. I am glad and you should be proud that you immediately found something you can do with them!

I think that is an excellent idea. They will be appreciated at nursing homes or shelters for the homeless. Thanks for thinking of others who can really use them.

And cancer centers for chemo patients!

They will be appreciated wherever you decide to take them.

It is a nice pay it forward that you are doing that. Anyone you needs warmth will appreciate them.

Sounds like a great idea!
The industrial washers/dryers can be rough, and hand piecing sometimes can have weak seams. I would quilt more densely than usual and see if there are ways to make sure the seams were stabilized, perhaps stitching near the ditch on every block. |
