Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I am currently cutting all of my scraps into squares and getting all of my fabrics folded and organized. Seeing such a wonderful scrap project really helps to keep me motivated.

You can do it!! I hope you'll try a quilt like this! The fun thing is that you can use the scrap you grab in its current state! No cutting beforehand! What could be more fun? You owe it to yourself to do one and show everyone! I threw my first block away. It was too perfect. You have to get wonky! So get wonky and do one!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Great quilt. Thanks for all the pictures and info about making it.

Are your squares 2.5" with the blocks finishing at 6" like Bonnie's? Sashing width? Love the plaids and stripes!

Floralfab 08-09-2011 01:13 PM

I love it! Great job.

Thanks, MM, and your very welcome! Yes, my squares are 2.5" as I had a huge stack of precut squares which I wanted to use up which made the blocks come together extra fast! Yes, they finish exactly at 6"! I just measured. The sashing finishes at 1.5 so I cut them at 2". Yes, I loved integrating the stripes with the plaids in the sashing as it gave it some interesting break points. If the stripe is bold enough, it'll work well; if it's a pale stripe, it won't be as effective. I'll be working on my wonky snowballs next for it after I get the striped border on. Hope the wonky snowballs work out. I'll figure it out when I get there. lol. Wish me luck! haha. Hope everyone's WS turns out great! Just throw everything in but the kitchen sink and it'll look happy happy! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Thanks, everyone!!

Thank you so much, Luciaz!! I'd love to challenge you to give it a try. Basically, it's a 9P (Nine Patch) block and once you make a stack of star point blocks, you can form a 9P WS!! All by putting the 9 squares together and sew the top 3 together, then the middle row of 3 together, and lastly, the bottom row of 3 together and you'll have a WS block! Take a look at the link I provided on page 2 (I think it is) at Bonnie Hunter's site and follow her tute and you'll have it down pat! She has lots of pics, so you can't possibly fail! I hope you'll give it a try as we want to make something pretty with our scraps instead of throwing them away! Let me know how your's turn out!! Happy scrappy wonky quilting to you!! :-D :-D :-D p.s. Welcome to the QB!! You will absolutely love it here! The block is easy peazy! ;-)

jpmaroni 08-09-2011 02:05 PM
