A co-worker offered to pay us to make a quilt for her 2-year-old granddaughter. I told her if she'd buy the materials we would not charge her for labor. I think she was surprised at how expensive fabrics can be, but we shopped around and also pulled some bargain fabric from our stash and this is the result. She specified the size and pattern, and told me it had to have purple. She wanted me to pick the fabrics.
We made 14 extra blocks because we knew we'd have to piece the back, and wanted to break up the solid green. When I started working on the back and looking at all those blocks it seemed a shame to "waste" them. I started playing with them and Kimberly asked if I was making another quilt. We decided it would be fun to make a "dolly quilt" that matched Harmony's. We have decided we want to do this for any future little girl quilts. I hope she likes them. I'm giving them to Grandma tomorrow, but I think they are for a birthday in a month or two, so I'm not sure when Harmony will get them.
