Hatchet or Shooting Star quilt

I think those are a couple of traditional names for this quilt block. I saw another blogger call this quilt pattern Disappearing Scraps, but I don't think enough scraps disappeared for it to earn that title ;-)
sorry for the poor picture quality. Still gray outside. |
I have done this pattern and F&P called it Slanted Star. It is a fun quilt to make. Great job Debra. Your quilts are always so beautiful.
Its very pretty love scrappy
A very colorful scrappy! Great job!
I think I like that name best. That's what I shall call it. Thank you for your lovely words.
love your layout. I did a smilar one for my DGD and named it slanting stars.
It's a great scrappy!
I have seen the slanted star blocks in a quilt before but I really like your setting! Great quilt!
I know it as Exquisite, but I like Slanted Star better. Yours is very well done.

You're a funny lady . . . and if you had not named it slanted stars, I might not have seen them. I like scrap pies, even if they only reproduce themselves. |
Charming quilt! You did a great job.
Whatever you call it, it's beautiful! Your arrangement is terrific! My daughter chose a similar pattern for me to use for her quilt. I called it "smeared stars" since I couldn't find the the true name.
Very cool quilt! Love the geometric design's you can see after staring at it for a while. The cross in the center is really neat.
Oh, I do, I do. How about "Hidden Cross?"
A really pretty scappy quilt! Until someone called it slanted stars, I didn't even notice them.
Great quilt!
Beautiful quilt and such vivid colours what ever the name.
Looks like an awful lot of work to me. Very pretty
Great quilt!!
I love the optical illusion your placement of the blocks and use of color created. Makes it look like it is radiating/pulsing from the center. You have to really focus to find the stars. I also like how it creates a cross in the center.
Great quilt.....
Lovely quilt. You have done a fantastic job !!
I like it and a gray day to me makes for the colors to be more true. No shadows or glares. Again love it.
It's very pretty.
Nice quilt.

Had to laugh about not using up enough scraps. I am in the middle of a scrappy, too, and I swear they are multiplying! I have often said I am going to separate the boy colors from the girl colors and see if that stops the multiplying ;)
Your pattern is wonderful, regardless of what it is called. Nice job! |
What great "movement" in that quilt.
Great quilt!
Just look at that quilt move! Love it. My scraps keep making more. Haha
peace |
I too have seen the slanted star but always with the stars going in one direction not both, really like yours.
wow that really has movement. wonderful.
Love it. BrendaK

Can someone tell me where I can find this pattern? I looked up the hatchet and disappearing scraps but couldn't find it..beautiful quilt
Very similar to the top I just finished. I started out with a similar layout. I was going from a photo on Pinterest, no pattern and I cut my squares for the corners too small. Then found a picture on this board of the same pieces but with sashing. So thankful! Was able to salvage the project by incorporating the sashing. Taking mine to the guild meeting Tuesday night for signatures
I love the movement your quilt has. Reminds me of ripples in the water when you throw a rock in the lake. |
Pretty scrappy quilt. I understand the scrap thing. I have been sorting out a couple of little bins of scraps-where do they come from!
ladysuds, here is a link to constructing the block
