Haven't posted in a long while
 

I haven't posted a picture in a long while, because I have been mostly quilting simple meandering or E2E on customer quilts. I took the time last week to make two small items for myself.

The first is a hexagon hotpad that I made from a MODA layer cake. I have been kind of hexi crazy lately since I got my half hexi rulers.

The second item is a hexagon table mat, also made from a layer cake. It is a quilt as you go item. The colors in the pumpkin table mat are much darker and richer than in the picture.

I really enjoyed making both of these items, and plan to make more between now and Christmas. I think they would both make great gifts. Of course, I would probably use a Christmas or general theme for the table mat, but I love fall colors, thus the pumpkin one for me.

Tinker, it's not binding. It is actually the back of the hotpad that has been folded over the front and stitched down.

I bought the half hexie ruler online from Fat Quarter Shop. It is made by Riley Blake. It came in a set that included a pattern, a five inch half hexie that can be used with charm packs, and a ten inch half hexie that can be used with layer cakes.
