Just finished this wall hanging last night after working on it off and on (more off than on) for over a year. It's called "You Are In Our Hearts" and is a pattern off the PRQC website. This is the second one I've done.

And I have been planning on making an Hawaiian Applique for my DIL. I already have a pattern and the fabric, but I like your pattern better!!! (The one I have is a pineapple). I guess I better start looking for this pattern!!

kayquilt 05-31-2010 03:12 PM

I'm working on one now and I have a question. How far apart are your echo quilting lines. The book that I am using didn't tell me what to do.

Yvonne 05-31-2010 03:14 PM

I think most of the superlatives have been used here. Your work deserves them all. Beautiful heirloom quilt.

gramquilter2 05-31-2010 03:36 PM

I not only love your sense of color, I like the pattern you chose to work on as well...and meaning goes a long way in my world.

Lucky you.
Great place to live, and talented to go with it.

Thank you for sharing what you have done.

annieshane 05-31-2010 11:18 PM

Great Job, the echo quilting really accents each design.

Your quilt is absolutely stunning. I love the color, just like your waters. I have a cousin who belongs to the guild in Honolulu and I was fortunate enough to attend a meeting with her. The ladies there do such wonderful hand work. I did a Hawaiian quilt as my very first applique project about 15 years ago and it is still one of my favorites.

Charleen DiSante 06-01-2010 08:23 AM

Yes, Wow!! Is the applique'd portion all one piece? I thought I was doing well finishing a 12 inch square for a BOM at my quilt guild. Thanks for sharing.

iltoaz 06-01-2010 08:54 AM

STUNNING!!!!!

Did you get to go to any of the stores I suggested?

All the instructions say the echo lines should be about a finger-width apart. Because I'm usually all over the map, I marked each row 1/2-inch from the row before which works better for me.

It is one piece. Remember the paper snowflakes we learned how to make in grade school? That's how the applique' is done - folded in eighths and then cut through all 8 layers at once.

hulahoop1 06-01-2010 11:30 AM

Thank you for all your kind remarks. I really appreciate them.

feline fanatic 06-01-2010 11:30 AM

This quilt is AMAZING! I am completely inept at applique unless it is the simplest of shapes. I am in awe of Hawaiian Applique and yours is equally awe inspiring.

kayquilt 06-01-2010 11:38 AM

Thanks for the info. I have been using 1/2 inch width, but I was only guessing.
