This is a quilt that I long arm quilted for a customer who is a FABULOUS appliquer and really outdid herself on this one! It had nine blocks and palm tree border all around the edge plus volcanos in each corner. She asked for a bubble type background fill along with some quilting in each of the blocks and the palm trees and volcanoes. She also asked me to randomly quilt some little pineapples and hibiscus flowers on the top also. I drew out the pineapples and hibiscus on golden threads paper with a chalk pencil and then quilted right through it and then tore off the paper. When her friend from her applique group saw it quilted, she asked me to do hers too.

Amazing work, the hawaiian style of applique appeal to me very much, and ONE DAY.......I would like to make an attempt, not sure if I could make one as fantastic as this one.

Your quilting really brings each block to life, such alot of work for both of you but what a result...simply stunning

The volcano pic is the 2nd pic. Each corner of the quilt has a volcano. I machine quilted some lava flowing near the top of the volcano. In the open bottom area, I machine quilted a palm tree.

And that is what happened! On Monday the friend of the owner of the Hawaiian quilt called to ask me to quilt her top too! I now have in my lineup the exact same top in fabrics of white for the background and a gorgeous teal green and blue for the appliques! It is a work of art and it will be fun to quilt it as well. :-D :-D :-D
