Hayley's Quilt

This is a commission quilt for Hayley's 8th birthday. On the back is a family tree and I have appliqued 36 names onto it, plus a couple of blanks for babies due in the coming months.
It was part of the LQS's 'Pink Week for Breast Cancer' recently and received lots of positive comments and I could have had quite a few more commissions for 'family tree quilts' :) |

I drew the tree up from a picture, added a few branches to fit the names per family on a branch. I stem-stitched the names onto the 'leaves' first, light for female, dark for male. Buttonholed stitched the tree to the background, then buttonholed stitched each leaf in place on the branches.
I actually enjoyed doing the family tree and the recipient's family is thrilled with it so I have achieved what they wanted :) |
