So I'm making a quilt for my neighbor for Christmas, he used to be a bricklayer so I made him a brick quilt. I need help picking a backing though as I'm debating between 2. Which one would do you like better??
the whole quilt the two backings. I like the one on the right better the one I made for his wife. This one is had pieced and in the process of being hand quilted one of the flowers I quilted onto it |
Either backing would do, but I like right one also. Nice quilts
|
I think either one.
|
What a terrific friend you are! He's bound to love his quilt..
|
nice qork. i prefer the backing on the right as well
|
Me too. I like the one one the right. They are both pretty quilts.
|
I really like the one on the right too :D:D:D
Pretty quilts! |
usually I decide what color thread I am using, the decide whether I want it to show or not. That gives me a clue to the backing.
Hand quilting--boy I admire you doing that. |
I guess I am odd man out, but I like the one on the left. With all of the rectangular shapes on the front of the quilt, I think something of a different shape for the back would be nice. I admire your handpieceing.

The right one as it looks more bricky
|
The one on the right.

KAY, so I picked the one I liked, it looked more "bricky" to me. But I'm stitching in the ditch, but can I do this with the staggered lines? If so, how? I feel like such a beginner asking this when quilting is literally in my bloodlines I swear. But my mom is just no help with this as she always did squares and considers herself a beginner.
and deb, the flowers I'm quilting are 10 inches tall, the blocks are supposed to be 10 1/2. So they're really quick to quilt, it's just that I have a piece of old flannel as batting and in July with no air conditioning, I decided that was going to have to wait til it got a little colder |
