This pattern is on an old quilt that we are currently hand quilting. I love this pattern...does anyone have this pattern or know the name of it? I would appreciate any help...thank you soooo much...Elaine
P.S. It makes a winding pattern by reversing the blocks all the way across the quilt... Does anyone know the name of this block? |
I have never seen it before but I do love it!:)

It almost looks like grandmothers fan meets drunkards path, you could probably draft one yourself starting out with a drunkards path block

I love the pattern, I hope someone can figure it out for us
|
It is a variation of grandma's fan flipped back and forth. Will look when I get home but I got Eleanor Burn's butterflies and Fans for Christmas a couple of years ago and I believe you will find OT or a very close relative in her book.

Thanks for your advice...next time I go to the center, I am going to take tracing paper if I can't find a drunkard's path..it would be pretty easy to trace and add 1/4" seam allowance. There are so many variations you could do with this pattern...you could do a circle for the center block using the fans, and then do the twisting like this pattern to complete the quilt. It's unique...

According to Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns, there was a similar Laura Wheeler patttern called "Japanese Fan" (see # 3309). It was divided into three sections, like yours. It also had a smooth edge.

It also could a variation of snake in the hollow.
|
How pretty...but afraid I have no clue to the name of the pattern.

WOW, what a pattern!! My first thought was a variation of the drunkards path.
The others names are interesting, I always have to look up when I hear different names to check them out!! |
Thank you..I am going to do some research too...I'll check out the suggestions.

I love those old fabrics. Interesting pattern. I agree that it must be a variation of drunkard's path.
Lucky you to be working on these old blocks. |
I can't answer your question ... though I do think it looks like a beautiful pattern.
Could you please post a picture of the whole quilt, for us to enjoy? Please? and Thanks! |

This is similar to an old pattern, Grandmother's Love Ring. http://craftersamongus.blogspot.com/...-9th-2011.html The one you have pictured is pieced alittle differently, I like your's too. I hope someone knows the name of your block.
