Please help me with this quilt. This I did for the Hoffman challenge. It was a challenge without the challenge,LOL!
I don't know if I want to send it off to Hoffman.
I am an artist but let me tell you a sketch doesn't always tranfer well to fabric. This is my beloved cat who died. A tribute to the The Gray Ghost. He was a sweet cat but my quilt shows him glaring. I workrd on lots of new skills so what should I do?

ohhhhh he looks intense!!

raedar63 05-02-2011 06:57 PM

What if you change the direction he is looking? Like to the side ?

luckylindy333 05-02-2011 07:00 PM

I think it is his eyebrows- I don't know if you want to, but maybe take a picture and play around with drawing his brows just a little higher... I had a Siamese cat like that- but she was kind of mean...

momcpo 05-02-2011 07:02 PM

I agree, it's the eyebrows. But can you change it? Looks like it's already quilted. Send it, it's a great quilt.

Ramona Byrd 05-02-2011 07:06 PM

Could you enlarge the eyes on the top? I don't know if this is painted on or thread painting, but I'm sure you can come up with some small thing that will slightly change his expression.

Looks like my Koko when he is closely examining something he thinks might try to get away from him, like one of his toy mice.
I think it looks natural, most cats can look like this at times. And it is a good tribute to the Gray Ghost.

make the eyes bigger

Summer Spice 05-02-2011 07:39 PM

I think its lovly whatever you decide.

wolfkitty 05-02-2011 07:41 PM

Yes, the eyelids are down too far. Also, if you could bring his lips up a little on the ends in a mild smile. But it does look like it's already quilted. You don't want to mess it up by undoing it.

mamahippychicky 05-02-2011 07:41 PM

He looks like someone has woken him suddenly from a deep sleep... my cats look like that when woken too

connie_1936 05-02-2011 09:51 PM

great quilt. have you thought about using fabric paint to change his expression? maybe turn up his moutha little, or soften his eyes.

BETTY62 05-03-2011 01:05 AM

I like it a lot. I say go for it.

QUILTNMO 05-03-2011 01:42 AM

sawsan 05-03-2011 02:02 AM

I loved your quilt. And remember It's not a photo picture
I am not an artist but again LOVE IT

thequilteddove 05-03-2011 02:27 AM

I'm not an artist either, but here's my 5cents:

I think he's fabulous just the way he is... Go for it! Success only comes to those who take a chance over & over & over again!

justlooking 05-03-2011 02:28 AM

He does look intense!

arkansasquilter123 05-03-2011 03:50 AM

I like it just the way he is. I say enter it. I think it is wonderful.

MrsM 05-03-2011 04:04 AM

I think if you change the line of his mouth, into a slight curve it will soften his look.

sueisallaboutquilts 05-03-2011 04:55 AM

I'm no help b/c I think it's beautiful exactly as it is !!! :D:D

debcavan 05-03-2011 05:31 AM

Do you have a small white comma painted in the black of the eye. That sometimes softens a glare. Use a fine brush or a pointed toothpick.

nativetexan 05-03-2011 06:01 AM

it's lovely. would you get it back if you sent it to the challenge??? if not, perhaps you should keep it since it is of your lost kitty cat. it means a lot to you.

Yosamitesa 05-03-2011 06:09 AM

I love it. It looks like he is about to go back to sleep or just woke up, with that not now mom look. :)

Tartan 05-03-2011 12:22 PM

I think you should send it the way it is. They don't know what your cat looks like unless you have to supply a picture? Rename it "Guarding the Garden".

Carol Sheldon 05-03-2011 05:37 PM

I thank you for your reponse. I will ship it out. I don't expect to win. It was the challenge for myself. They will return it and will send me next years fabric and thread.
