These are only 20 of my Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt blocks, but there will be 111 when finished. All blocks will be in this Moda line. The main thing that drew me to this fabric line was the coolness of the colors. They are very light and airy and I find them refreshing.

I've pictured in my head doing the sashing in deep green and found the perfect color, but now I'm not sure about it. I'm wondering if it warms up the overall tone too much and causes the blocks to lose that cool wintery feeling. So I tried a blue, but that seems to make the green in the blocks weak and blah. I thought about cream, but the blocks with a lot of cream in them get lost because they aren't well defined then. I will use cream for cornerstones at the corners of each block and for setting triangles around the perimeter of the quilt.

So here are my pictures. Unfortunately the green came out very dark, but still gives the basic effect. The blue fabric is just a color representation and isn't the actual fabric that would be used. Any votes or other suggestions?

Blue with make it more airy.

The blue would be my choice - it lightens the entire look.

Amazing, what a different look that makes. The dark is more dramatic, the blue gives a softer look....It depends on the look you want! :D

Does the red stand out too much with the blue as the sashing?

I would audition another green that isn't quite as dark, but that is just me.

I do like the blue. There is so much work in the blocks I know that you need to get it just right.

I like the green better (just my personal preference) but I think the blue better achieves your goal of cooler and airier... Either choice would be nice!
