Is it just me - or does this happen to you too? Every time I am working on a layout - someone wants to help!

I was laying block out one day and one of my dogs kept taking one square and running, i would go get it and put it back and she would grab the same block and run again. I had an extra block so that is her toy and you don't get near it or she will growl. LOL

pab58 04-16-2011 10:28 AM

Yep!! My furbaby, Bitsy, does it ALL the time!!!! She always has to have her fuzzy nose in my business!! I guess she thinks she can sew/layout a quilt/sew, etc. better than I can.

BTW: beautiful quilt!!! Looks like Truman likes it, too!!

cmagee84 04-16-2011 10:33 AM

According to my 4 legged child, if it is on the floor, it is mine! :)
If it is on the couch or in Mom's lap, it is mine, too! :)

BeeNana 04-16-2011 10:34 AM

I know what you mean. I just brought my
sewing machine into the house from repair
and the cover still on.............and the
cat had to jump right up on the top.
If I just have a small block completed and
on the tablel, the cat has to have his
arsenal plant on top of it.
Your helper is as cute as can be.

Love your cancer quilt. I don't have any four legged friends. Bad allergies.

The quilt is beautiful and so is your helper

Toto's Mom 04-16-2011 02:02 PM

Truman is obviously very proud of your work, and rightly so!!
One of the cats has to lay behind my sewing machine, and assist. Toto lays beside me, and if I lay the top out to look at my progress, they all have to lay on it. When I finish one, and hang it on the back fence to photograph it, the horses have to come inspect, too.
I call them my "quality control" team.

stichinluvr 04-16-2011 02:21 PM

He looks so doggone cute - you can't scold him. He's just holding the blocks in place so they don't move.

sally's girl 04-16-2011 04:12 PM

yes, I have 3 fur-helpers...is yours a puggle

applegramma 04-16-2011 04:16 PM

Beautiful pink and white blocks and for a good cause!!!

I think all of us have seen the pattern weights in the catalogs and shops...well you have your own furrie weight!!! So cute!!!

DeeBooper 04-16-2011 04:20 PM

They just love our quilts, don't they? Mine is there every step of the way and she looks at me with those beautiful eyes of hers as if to say "Is this one mine?"

Nettie Phillips 04-16-2011 04:32 PM

Nice quilt. Like the dog too.

Quiltmaniac2010 04-16-2011 04:33 PM

Do you think they are trying to tell us that we are paying too much attention to our quilts? and not enough attention to them? (after all, it is all about them, right?)

BTW, beautiful quilt and beautiful quality controller!

Stitchnripper 04-16-2011 04:39 PM

Your helper is precious.

Well - yes and no. When we got him - we were told he was a Puggle. We got Lincoln about 8 months before and he is a Puggle. When we went to the store - we knew we would not walk out without a new baby . . and when they told us Truman was a Puggle we were hooked. I think he might actually be a Jug or Jack Russel/Pug. Either way we call him Puggle, Puggie, Jugie and even imposter. . .how can you not love them!

Thank you all for your kind words. I can't wait to get it all together and show it off. I normally don't like white becuase you can see all the seams - but once it is done with batting and the back you normally can not anymore. I made the ribbon blocks with the Fons & Porter ruler. I can not believe how accurate it made everything. Pretty much all my points came out perfectly!

My mother in law had breast cancer and this is a suprise for her. I have to say I am actually very proud of it. I have given only 4 away - 2 for girls I work with who had babies, and a Minnesota Vikings quilt for my dad. I don't think he really understood the work that went into it so this one will probably be the most important that I have done. I am considering making pillows for my 2 sister in laws also - something we can all have the same. MIL always gives us Pink Ribbon items so I know she will love it.

More pictures to come :)

And a big huge THANK YOU! to MTS - who helped with the alternating block. I love love love it!

Beautiful quilt. Yes, when I had my dog he did it and now my cat does it. She has to lay right on it. It got so when I have to do my final layout I go to my mom's-no quilt inspectors at her house!

Quilted Horse 04-16-2011 06:31 PM

I could never lay a quilt on the floor! I have 2 yellow labs who are always 'helping'. You should see me do the Long Arm dance! If someone took a video of me stepping over and around the two of them, it would go viral!!!

MTS 04-16-2011 06:34 PM

I think it looks terrific.

The checkerboard isn't competing at all with the ribbons (and visa versa), and those blocks really fill up the space nicely. Sometimes the simplest solution works best.

Fabulous job!

Can't wait to see what you've got cooking for the next project.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-17-2011 04:04 AM

There must be an unwritten law in the animal kingdom about this!!! Yes, mine do it every single time!
He's absolutely adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D

sueisallaboutquilts 04-17-2011 04:05 AM

Marion Jean 04-17-2011 04:06 AM

Of course! LOL

Moonglow 04-17-2011 04:07 AM

Yes I also have a helper. Your quilt is lovely and your helper is gorgeous.

Flugiepoo 04-17-2011 04:22 AM

Beautiful helper and yes I've got a furball to help me. He loves to find my seam ripper, and thimble so he can knock them off in the floor no matter how many times I pick them up....... I do keep a water bottle handy so it he starts to annoy me I can fix it...lol

amma 04-17-2011 09:46 AM
