And here we go with some more.....
1 Attachment(s)
.... boxes!!! Tadaa..... I just love making them and they're such special presents with or without content :)
The pink one was for our grand-daughter who had her 9th birthday yesterday, I put some hair bands and bracelets in it. The other 2 will be in a lot of 7 (still 5 to make... ;) ) I intend to give to the ladies working at my doctors surgery. They have been so specially nice and helpful with many things. I don't have to go to the surgery and sit in the waiting room to go and see my GP just to get a prescription, I can just ring up and they fax it straight to the chemist. You've got to know that we live in the bush and we don't go to town that often, so favors like that are special to us. Also as my hubby has been diagnosed with terminal cancer end of last year, there is always some sort of medication to top up with. There are 5 ladies working there and I thought if I make 7 boxes that will then give them the chance to each choose one they like, 7 gives a bit more of a choice :) Also this coming Friday we are starting again, after a long break, our Ladies Morning Tea and Fellowship at church and I have been asked if I would be willing to stay on into the afternoon to show the ladies who are interested to do some craft, to make those boxes. So I've already cut up all the needed fabrics and wadding. Our meeting will be fortnightly but we will follow up with a craft session only once a month for a start and see how we go and some ladies are interested to learn how to make a quilt!!! So I'm looking forward to all this activity as I'm sure it will be lots of fun!!! Lots of blessings to all you dear quilters out there!!! <3 |
Awesome job on the boxes. It is a good thing you are doing with all your problems and business. God Bless You
they came out great!
Elfi, your boxes look terrific. I am sorry to hear about your DH. I will put him on my prayer list.
I hadn't seen them this large. I only have seen it in a tiny size for putting scraps of thread in them.
very cute!!!!
The boxes are lovely. It's also thoughtful of you to make extra so they have a choice (and you will have some last minute gifts on hand).
Pretty boxes. :)
They are so cute - wish I could go to your craft session!
I love your boxes and so will the nurses. I will put you and your DH on our prayer list.
I love your boxes. On one of mine I put the French seam to the outside and that looked nice also.
Your boxes turned out so cute!

Great job on your fabric boxes. Good luck on finishing the others, and be sure to post. Sorry to hear about your husband.
Very pretty boxes. So lovely that you think of others in your difficult times.
I love them also and I have made many of them to use as gifts. Good job.
Beautiful.....great that others want to try .......please tell what size and how you got those "neat" seams.....
The boxes are lovely. I doubt that I could do those, even with you hovering over my shoulder. Good luck with your classes and God bless you as you face the future.
Those boxes are so cute. What a terrific idea at the doctor's office where candies, cookies, etc., aren't appreciated so much!
I know I have downloaded this pattern, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Can you please direct me to the site I can use to see how to do this. I really think I need to make some for a couple medical assistants that have helped me tremendously with DH's cancer treatment.....Thank you.....")

Love your boxes. They are so pretty & a great gift. I'm sure the nurses will love them. So sorry to hear about your husband
What a thoughtful gesture. Your boxes are lovely and will surely be appreciated. Blessings to you and your husband.
I just found not only my directions but the site where they came from. I did a search here and found it under "Little Fabric Boxes". Took me a while to get the correct wording, but finally did......
Love your boxes! Prayers for you and hubby!
So sorry for your husband's diagnosis of cancer, I hope he makes a good recovery. I'm sure with a new quilting group starting, it will help you divert some attention away from your problems. I think I will have to put these boxes on my Roundtoit List for a craft fair I'm doing in Nov.

Cute boxes.

Love the way you made enclosed seams!

To all the quilters who asked me about info for the boxes:
Here on the QB is where you can find the tutorial for the boxes with the french seams "Fabric Boxes with French Seams Tutorial" - a post from Feb. 2013 and the main box tutorial for the box itself can be found here "http://seaside-stitches.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/fabric-box-tutorial.html" and I make mine 12 1/2" and the sides either 2" or 2 1/2" Good luck and happy quilting - looking forward to see some of yours!!! |
I like these very much. I just cup up an oatmeal box for this very reason. This will look much better. thank you
Beautiful boxes and they will be very useful to the Ladies.
