Experimenting with the crazy quilt concept. Sometimes I'm disappointed with the similarities of my shapes and I have to work on tweaking how I do it. Usually, when I really like how it ends up, it's purely by accident. Maybe some of you recognize some scraps! Thank you all who sent to me, I am really enjoying this and I couldn't be having such fun without your generosity and help!

Those look great! I tried that once and it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Good job.

Looking good.. sometimes even when a patch doesnt look good on its own once you put it together with all the others it sings!

wvdek 07-10-2009 07:40 PM

Love your scrap blocks. Look forward to seeing finished product. :-)

I think they are all super - what size is your finished block, and how are you going to set them?

Bevanger 07-11-2009 03:46 AM

Have you finished yet????
Want to see the rest of them

Sheila Elaine 07-13-2009 02:54 PM

I'm partial to using black borders & sashing, alternated with colored ones.

SharonC 07-13-2009 06:03 PM

I like crazy quilts and I know that they are not an easy quilt to make...I too end up with blocks that are just "similar"...:) I like yours so much...congrats!

littlehud 07-13-2009 06:21 PM

Very pretty. I think your doing great.

*QuilterWannabee* 07-21-2009 03:52 AM

I think that would probably compliment it, good idea, thanks!

Esqmommy 07-21-2009 05:28 AM

Those are great. I think it's much harder than it looks - getting fabrics to go together, yet look scrappy. You're doing great work - keep it up. Post your progress so we can all enjoy it!

Justquilting 07-21-2009 05:42 AM

Very nice!! Keep up the great work!

kwhite 07-21-2009 05:45 AM

I like them very much. Great job.

amma 07-21-2009 12:47 PM

Darlene 07-21-2009 01:29 PM

I am with Jackie I made some for a swap one time and they are very hard to figure out especially the first few. Yours look great.

Mousie 07-21-2009 05:14 PM

those are great blocks, wannabe! :D

earthwalker 07-21-2009 06:29 PM

Love 'em....can't wait to see the finished product. Don't give up and let your creativity run free.

Shemjo 07-21-2009 07:11 PM

Very nice! I have trouble becasue I keep rejecting the pieces until I get one that "looks right". When I look at flower grdens, I love them all. why can't I just put fabrics together and let it go? :?

Sharon M 07-21-2009 07:16 PM

As I have said before I LOVE SCRAPPY! Your blocks are looking great and not similar at all  What size are you making your blocks? Look forward to seeing your progress.

Bevanger 07-22-2009 06:08 AM

LOOKING FANTASTIC kiddo. Keep up the good work.

scrappy_quilter 07-22-2009 06:13 AM

I just joined but I love your blocks - they are great! I love scrappy quilts!

Thanks to all for looking/commenting. I will post more as I make them. I think this works for me because I don't feel the need to scrutinize, or have it "turn out" the way it's "supposed" to. I do "eye up" my scrap choices a little bit, and however they turn out, well - that's the way it was "supposed" to be. : )

*QuilterWannabee* 07-23-2009 07:30 AM

Scrappy is my favorite...I use a 6.5 in. square template (just like Bevanger shows in her Scrappy/Wonky tutorial, check it out) after I sew on all the pieces.

You did GREAT!
And, you are ahead of the crazy, scrappy game ... well, at least ahead of me! You have figured out a size to make to, rather than just keep adding pieces! LOL
Good job.
The basics to piecing a quilt is sewing a consistent, straight seam. You are getting the best practice one can possibly get. GOOD JOB!
