Here's my Rooster! Wouldn't he be cute with the chicken quilt?
He's a McCall's Crafts pattern #3699. I made a few changes in the construction. If you are interested, please ask! |
Oh my gosh!!!! He is adorable! I love chickens... hens mostly, but your rooster is soooooo cute!!
How do those beautiful tail feathers stand up? You did a fantastic job... he is precious! |
What a great job you have done on your rooster. I just love him. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us.

Thank you for saying so. Re: tail feathers. Just sew two rows of
stitches side by side and stick a pipe cleaner between the rows. Then the feathers are stuck into a "pocket" on his rump. |
MsSage, thanks for asking. The pattern tells you to leave an opening
for stuffing under his butt. If you leave the opening on top of his body, near the neck, it will be covered up by his neck feathers. Same situation with the legs and feet - if you leave the opening at the top of his leg, rather than where they suggest - your closing stitches won't be seen. Also, I filled up the feet and legs with playground sand so that he can stand up on his own two feet! Picking out the fabrics for this was like chosing fabrics for a quilt - SO MUCH FUN! |
Pal--he is precious and you have done a great job with him. I love the fabrics you picked out for him. What are you going to do with him?
|
Thank you, Marcia. I made him for my SIL as a Thanksgiving thank you.
So he flew the roost back in November. But I am going to make one for myself - some day..... |
He is lovely, I wonder what my cats would make of him, the colours are great.

Sorry I forgot to ask how tall is he?

He is great - what a nice job.
|
How cute! What a great gift. Thanks for sharing your changes! I'm tempted with this also! I WANT IT ALL! :?
|
I don't know how to put your question above my answer - but
for Maxies2 - according to the pattern he's 11x14 - so he is 11" high and 14" from his beak to the ends of his feathers I bought the pattern at JoAnn Fabrics either when it was on sale or with the 50% off. |
That has to be one of the cutest things I've seen in a while! You did a great job! so...are you going to do the chicken quilt for when you make one of these for yourself?
|
He is a cutie!! Great job. Thanks for sharing
|
