Thanks Rhonda - but it's only practice, and I like to do it without marking, so I spend lots of time with pencil/paper too!

Really pretty-I love hexagon anything lately so this is really appealing to me.

That is free motion quilting? You are very good at it. Did you mark you top a lot? Your stitches are so even and your spacing is excellent. Great job.

No marking at all Jan - just use points/seams as a guide to eyeball it. The feathers in the inside border for instance I just adjust the width or length of each set when I get near to the end of each border to make it fit!
I have the speed button about half speed, and find I can control the stitch length better like that - if I have it on faster I cant keep them so regular!

 The other Clermont being fmq'd at the moment (Spiral Strips pattern). Or if you mean just the "next" quilt - another awaiting basting, one still on the wall, two cut, plus all the fabrics already bought with a definite plan for them  This retirement is hard work!

No, pattern is very easy, and best thing is no waste, because the offcuts from the hexagons are used in the borders. The half hexagons are joined in horizontal strips, then the rows sewn together.

My only problem was deciding what, or how to, quilt in the hexagons because as you can see they are irregular in shape and several things I tried just didnt work. But the "twirlys" work quite well I think.

Thanks for explaining. I was about to ask how you sew the hexagons together. Your quilt is gorgeous. Isn't FMQ a blast? I am learning how on my new Janome horizon. Thanks for sharing.
