I have finally made a start on sewing some of my selvages together. First project is going to be a hexagon quilt and over the past couple of days I have had so much fun sewing these blocks so far.

Whatcha gonna do with them? Sure to be a looker because those hexies are very eye-catching. Be sure to post a pic.

KalamaQuilts 05-16-2014 08:01 AM

How have you found it to be, folding all those seams over the foundation for sewing prep?
How are they for needling when stitching together?

serenitybygrace 05-16-2014 09:25 AM

Wow! That looks like a lot of work. It is going to be awesome. Please share again when you finish. I can hardly wait to see it.

sandyfullmer 05-16-2014 12:57 PM

You must have a big supply of salvages. Yours is he first I've seen in hexagons. Nice!

ube quilting 05-16-2014 01:18 PM

You are working on one of the most unique and fun quilts I have seen. What fun to have all the names of fabric you have used together in its' own quilt. I zoomed in on your work and it is so much fun to see the great names, Kitty Cucumber, Dragonfly Summer, Three Cheers, Got the Goods, In the Beginning, Sewing Room Social,....... What a bunch of fun.:D
peace

Love your hexies! I too would like to know how all those seams handled. Are you going to hand stitch them together or stitch by machine. Tell us more! Please. And be sure to keep us up-to-date on your progress.

twinkie 05-18-2014 02:32 AM

WOW!! That's a cool idea never thought of doing that with selvages.

judykay 05-18-2014 06:24 AM

LOVE IT!!! What a great idea, good thing I don't save my salvages but then maybe I might start.

Geri B 05-18-2014 06:47 AM

....now that is what I call using all of the fabric...not a scrap anywhere! I have not yet wanted to do anything "Quilty" with selvedge strips.......

wendiq 05-18-2014 06:50 AM

OOOOOH! That's a lot of selvages and a TON of work.......:)

Annz 05-18-2014 06:58 AM
