Hi! I am new to the boards and new to quilting. This is my first project. It is a weighted blanket for my daughter with autism. It is filled with poly pellets.

Once I made that one my other daughters and boyfriend also want one. So here is a close up of Amber's. It is a scrapy made with flannel.

Looking good - were the pellets hard to work with?

mpspeedy 03-28-2009 05:46 PM

Nice job. The flannel quilts are so cuddly.

littlehud 03-28-2009 05:47 PM

Beautiful. They make me want to cuddle up under them. I am making my first flannel quilts and I love the feel of the fabric. Great job.

Not really. But I had no earlier experience. I just cut rectangles, sewed them closed almost to the end but left a big enough whole to get a funnel into. Filled about 1/3 with pellets then sewed the rest of the way up. I was finding pellets all over the place though. Still find one once in a while. :)

Welcome from NE CA. Glad you joined us. You must have known we love pictures. I've never heard of using pellets, why the pellets? Does the weight calm your daughter down?

Very nice! Doesn't look like you're a beginner :)

The weighted pellets is an interesting concept, I never heard of that before. I love to have weight on me when I sleep.

Welcome :)
