What a fantastic quilt!! I like everything about it! What is the pattern name? I've had some oriental fabric I have looked for a good pattern for. I love yours!! Whoever gets it will have an heirloom!

Sorry, I put the name in incorrectly. The pattern is Hip to (not) be Square by Heather Peterson. There are several really fun patterns in that collection. For Pennyhal, a design wall was totally essential for this pattern, and even with that some of my directional fabrics got cut wrong. Again, thanks to everyone for the lovely comments. It feels good to have others share in the joy of a completed project!

It's stunning. Wish I knew what you mean by " Quilting with the Hoop". Do you mean using the embroidery part of the machine and doing the pattern when the hoop is on ? I have embroidery machine so could do it or just using a wooden hoop to follow a stencil ?

You've made a beautiful quilt. Love the colors.

Quilting in the hoop is using a simple design, some are even labeled as quilting designs, programmed into the embroidery machine and stitched out with the quilt sandwich hooped. I have the Bernina 830 which takes a jumbo hoop that works well with the quilt sandwich. I had trouble keeping the weight off the hoop, so I got some "shadowing" on some of the patterns as shown in the "rip or not rip" post. I got better at it with repetition, but on such a large quilt, there was a lot of hooping and centering designs. Then there's all the threads to trim off the back once you're finished. I love the look, but probably won't do it again on such a large quilt.
