So I just started a quilt for myself. It's going to be a reproduction tumbler quilt. I've done 2 rows and some of the fabrics are questionable. Does it really matter if it's not true to the era? I was inspired by a quilt at an antique store and tried to pick fabrics that resembled it. I even took a picture of the quilt. All of the reproductions I've seen are much more muted. I guess if I like it it doesn't matter.

Remember the antique quilt's colors are muted because of time. They were once bright and vivid. Yours will look that muted in 150 years too. LOL

I don't see anything wrong with it.... I love Civil War era fabrics and I too, sometimes pick a pattern that isn't 'authentic'.

I found the same thing so I tea dyed mine before I quilted it and it did tone it down where it looks older. It was easy to do with the boxed "Tea Dye".

I feel it demonstrates the era very well.
