Angelina! I am loving my juki!! I am still amazed at all I can do on it and it just keeps ticking like nothing! It likes to work that's for sure!!

My DH is working on a new sewing cabinet right now & I love yours. Mine will have a folding leaf on the left side to hold fabric or just give me more room when I need it. I too, have a Juki & I love my Juki. I also have a Bernina 820 which I am very happy with & it is quality through & through but I love my Juki. My Bernina cost 7 times what my Juki cost but when I need a quick "go to" machine, I always choose the Juki. Mine is a straight stitch machine but talk about a work horse. Have had it 4 years & still has not needed servicing & not a lick of trouble with it except perhaps "user" created !! LOL

sharoney 11-13-2013 12:06 PM

I have the same machine- absolutely LOVE it! I also built my own sewing table using a kitchen table as a base-

ruck9085 11-13-2013 12:49 PM

Ooh, ooh, me, me!! PM me the how to please? I am starved for room! What a fabulous idea!!

He deserves a GOLD STAR !!!!! Brilliant man.

Great looking table. Wishing you many happy hours of quilting.

Belfrybat 11-13-2013 04:53 PM

REally nice. I had the same thing done for my Brother PQ1500s (Juki clone), but I had the handyman cut the opening big enough so the extension table fits in it. I couldn't figure out how I was going to access the bobbin area without the extra opening the extension table has. I guess my fat fingers just don't fit in the tiny space that would have been left had I not used the extension table.

rootyr 11-14-2013 02:38 AM

That is great. I guess your hubby is a keeper! LOL

twinkie 11-14-2013 04:16 AM

My DH did the same thing with my sewing machine. Don't you just love them being so handy

Retired Fire Chief 11-14-2013 05:03 AM

And let me tell you even small sewing tables cost an arm and a leg and are not all that sturdy!, so I changed my search to Craigslist, and after a little design brainstorm with my hubby he said yeah find a wood table and I can do it. Well 30 bucks later I did. A big kitchen table! I love it!! Especially for fmq! Table Space is essential for me so this is perfect! Anyone wants to know how we did it just let me know! Happy stitching everyone!!

Great job lets us all know how it was made....

Great job.....Let us all know how he made it....

Kaylabean13 11-14-2013 07:37 AM

The how too is on the second page of this thread! And yeah custom tables are pretty spendy but mostly what we found is that they just wobble way too much I wanted a brick house sewing table!! Lol

I have one made by husband about 17 years ago. Love it.

jbj137 11-14-2013 09:09 AM

I love it.
Be sure to THANK him.

SemiSweet 11-14-2013 09:10 AM

So, what did you do to hold up the machine after you put a hole in the table? is there just another board under that's screwed in?

TnBecky 11-14-2013 09:38 AM

Thank your sweet husband for the instructions. Lucky to have a such a handy husband. I have the same kind of table that I am sewing on, like you I love the large space. Also found mine on cragslist. Now to get my sweet husband to make a it into a sewing table.

I copied this for my records and reformatted it so it would fit on a couple pages (sometimes copying things from the internet formats them weirdly)
Here's the PDF version if anyone wants it.

Thank you so much!!

MargeD 11-14-2013 09:57 AM

That was a great idea. I used to use my old kitchen table to sew on, as it was sturdy and had a large enough surface to hold and support the quilt when I was machine quilting, even king size quilts. I miss it as sit was too big to bring with us from the house to the apt.

noradi 11-14-2013 10:03 AM

This may sound dumb but how would you change front loading bobbin? Would you need to lift machine out each time or could it just be tipped back?

ppquilter 11-14-2013 10:15 AM

Nice to have a handy man! Nice table!

JenDale 11-14-2013 10:49 AM

I just bought a Free machine for the cabinet, which is mostly ok but has the drawer sections missing. anyone know what they originally looked like?

caspharm 11-14-2013 06:50 PM

Annz 11-14-2013 07:45 PM

milikaa1 11-14-2013 10:38 PM

Kaylabean13 11-14-2013 11:33 PM

This is not a dumb question lol believe me we thought alot about this but come to figure out I can get to my bobbin just fine but that is for my machine not sure how others would work.

beautiful tablr. May I borrow your DH? Mine lacks such carpentry skill. :-)

Yarn or Fabric 11-16-2013 02:48 PM

I love my Juki sewing table. It was one of the best things I ever did for my sewing room... that and my rolling ironing station... and my Ikea cutting table.. but the set in machine. Love it :D
Yours looks great!

#1piecemaker 11-16-2013 02:54 PM
