Dear Rose Anne,
We have never met, but I just wanted to let you know that I found a quilt you made in a consignment store in New Hampshire and I bought it! I'm a fellow quilter who came across your beautiful hand-quilted lap quilt and I thought I would honor you by buying it.
Wherever you are, (even if it's in Quilters' Heaven), please know that I will take care of this little gem. I appreciate the time and the skill that you took in making it.
Maybe you would be angry if you knew how little I paid for it - maybe you would be amused. But I do love it. I'm wondering when you made it? Maybe in the 1980's?
Sincerely,
Jennie

In a good world, some old lady would overhear a pair of other old ladies commenting on a quilt someone found and loved, and she would murmur to herself, "I wonder what ever happened to that quilt I made for......all those years ago before I married my Bill?"

Oh, well, just dreaming. But it would be fun to find out who Rose was and what her life was like. Denning is not such a common name as Smith or Jones. Just maybe.....

Awesome! How grand that you found it & are giving it a home!

It would be fun. I did scan the website Legacy.com to see if I could find any obituaries under that name. I didn't find hers. But that's really as far as I want to go at this time.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my camera is really getting old and the flash has stopped working even with a fully charged battery.
What appears as chocolate brown here in pictures is really a beautiful true Amish black.

Rose Ann made a beautiful work of art; her hand quilting is exquisite!

And, you are a special person for recognizing this, and saving this for posterity.

Thank you.

The quilt is lovely and so is the praise you gave to her. I wish she had included more information on the label. A heads up to those of us with labels to still make for quilts we have made.

newquilter10 04-21-2011 03:44 PM

What a nice quilt and a tribute to the quilter.

What a beautiful quilt, and so lucky to be rescued by someone who will treasure it. Just another reminder that we need to label all of our quilts, with names, dates, and possibly even state of origin, so when they end up in thrift stores down the road, others will know who made them and wonder about you.

4EVERquilt 04-21-2011 06:23 PM

How special is that!!

I don't know how much I would want people to wonder about me, LOL!! No, really you are right, we are suppose to signature our quilts.

ilovetosew 04-21-2011 06:30 PM
