Combining Cross-stitching and patchwork.
I finished the stitching last Sunday - and as I had the machine out playing with fabric and Ohio Star piecing, (at least that's what I think that pattern is called), grabbed 3 fat quarters and put this cushion top together. I'd already decided that I wanted the stitching to be off-centre, and I think the blue really picks up the hot-pink fabric. It doesn't matter that the colours don't match my house! It makes it stand out all that much more! I played with a bit of crazy patchwork for the back of the cushion with the scraps, because I just don't think it's right for a back of a cushion to be all one fabric. Only the pink buttons fasten it up, the white ones are for decoration. I need to get more polyfill for the cushion to get it to fill properly, but Happy Dance for me!!! another finish!!!! |
Very nice, I love snowmen!

Wow! That is so cute! I didn't realize how much I love the combination of blue-pink-white till I saw your picture. I think this color combination is in my very near future.
I especially like the cross stitching. I used to do that, but it takes me so long! I would have taken 12 years to get that snowman done! Beautiful! |
Very cute and unique! Love finding new ways to incorporate my quilt blocks into something other than a quilt! Just realized I have some finished cross stitch that I can put in to use.

Where I live is about 1hours serious drive from the snowfields. I don't like snow, don't ever care to see it, but last year it seemed that every cross-stitch chart that called to me, featured a snowman. I therefore deemed 2010 'The year of the Snowman'. I cannot start stitching any new cross-stitch project this year unless it has a snowman. (of course, picking up WIP's or patchwork is not included in this plan) However, this year, it is the humble sheep, that keeps inspiring me. 2011 will be the year of the sheep!! thanks for all your lovely comments!! They really give me the warm fuzzies!! |
nice!!
